Heat Lightnin', faux fur on wood panels, 80 x 40", 2018
Dan Bina's work is a reactionary examination of cultural value, iconography, and consumption. It explores desire, anxiety, politics, and commerce in the social and private realms. Painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture are ways in which appropriation is digested generating composite artifacts. His work relies on craft traditions to reform source images, texts, and raw materials into new objects and perspectives.
